Dean's Fantastic, Questionable Nashville Album

Awesome right up to the last track. That's our man Dean! But I'm curious, did he really make it to Nashville for these sessions? I'm not so sure. Considering Dean's usual approach, he likely had the music and backing vocals pre-recorded in Nashville, then dashed into a Hollywood studio one night to lay down his vocals. He wasn't like Ol' Blue Eyes who enjoyed jamming with the live band in the studio. His duets with Conway Twitty and Merle Haggard lack any real interaction, and it seems like they're not even in the same room. Still, it's a fantastic album... even if Dean could probably pull this off with his eyes closed.

Given Dean's approach, he likely had the music and other artists pre-recorded in Nashville, then dashed into a Hollywood studio one night to lay down his vocals. He wasn't one to engage with a live orchestra like Sinatra did. His duets with Conway Twitty and Merle Haggard lack any real interaction, making it seem like they're not even in the same space. Still, it's an amazing album... even if Dean could pull this off with his eyes closed.
