Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
The audio quality is fantastic, but the colors don't quite match the mock up - they're much more subdued. The pressing is solid, with minimal noise. The sound is flat, not as dynamic as other hip hop remasters from VMP.
I've always been into Dilla's early stuff and his team-ups with Madlib and Slum Village, but let's be real, there's a reason this album was put on the shelf... it's just not good. The lyrics are full of boastful and disrespectful talk towards women, and the beats are mostly weak (though there are a couple of standouts, like the tracks produced by Madlib and Pete Rock). This album really misses the mark. It's definitely not one of Dilla's shining moments (no joke intended). If you're looking for that classic Dilla sound, you'd be better off checking out "The Shining," "Ruff Draft," or even "Jay Stay Paid" β all albums where he had full control over the production.
