Product Description

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Karol Szymanowski, one of Poland's most celebrated composers, with this exquisite collection of his works. Released on June 9, 2021, by Les Indispensables de Diapason, this album is a testament to Szymanowski's mastery of classical music, spanning a variety of genres and moods.

The album opens with the dynamic Violin Concerto No. 1, Op. 35, recorded in 1961, showcasing Szymanowski's ability to blend technical virtuosity with lyrical beauty. The concerto's three movements are filled with contrasts, from the energetic Vivace assai to the serene Tempo comodo, offering a rich tapestry of sounds and emotions.

Next, the Mythes, Op. 30, recorded in 1958, takes you on a journey through three mythological scenes. Each movement paints a vivid picture, from the playful La Fontaine d'Aréthuse to the dramatic Narcisse and the whimsical Dryades et Pan.

The centerpiece of the album is the Symphony No. 4, Op. 60 "Symphonie concertante," recorded in 1953. This three-movement symphony is a tour de force, combining orchestral brilliance with intimate, lyrical passages. The Moderato opening movement sets the stage, followed by the deeply expressive Andante molto sostenuto, and culminating in the exhilarating Allegro non troppo, ma agitato ad ausioso.

Finally, the album concludes with four selections from the 20 Mazurkas, Op. 50, recorded in 1961. These short, characterful pieces offer a glimpse into Szymanowski's lighter, more playful side, each one a miniature masterpiece in its own right.

With a total runtime of 1 hour and 12 minutes, this album is a comprehensive introduction to Szymanowski's diverse musical output. Whether you're a seasoned classical music enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this collection is sure to delight and inspire.
