Can't get enough of this 2 CD collection by Bruce Hornsby! And that cover art, rofl!
I must admit, despite my love for BH, this album never quite clicked with me at first. I'd given it a couple of listens, but it always felt a bit jumbled and out of sync with my tastes... until earlier this year when I caught Bruce & The Noisemakers live. They kicked off the show with Preacher In The Ring Parts 1 AND 2, mixing in Funhouse, and Shadow Hand. Bruce mentioned the 25th anniversary project, and I figured it was time to give this album another shot. I'm thrilled I did. This time around, Spirit Trail resonates perfectly with me. Now that I'm in my 40s and experiencing life in all its forms, I can honestly say I understand it and, more importantly, I need it. This album is phenomenal, and this edition is even more extraordinary. The pressing is excellent, the sound is top-notch, the max is dead quiet, and the packaging is great. Four new songs that had been sitting on his shelf - just like a CD of Spirit Trail sat on mine - for 25 years. It's breathtaking, and I'm so grateful this entire set made its way into the world.
