Product Description

"Spirit of Eden" is a captivating journey into the world of new wave and synthpop, masterfully crafted by the innovative band Talk Talk. Released on January 1, 1988, under the Parlophone UK label, this album is a testament to the band's evolving sound and artistic vision. Comprising six meticulously remastered tracks in 1997, the album spans a concise yet impactful 40 minutes, offering a rich tapestry of atmospheric soundscapes and introspective lyrics.

The album opens with "The Rainbow," setting the tone for the immersive experience that follows. Tracks like "Eden" and "Desire" showcase Talk Talk's knack for blending ethereal synths with poignant melodies, creating a sound that is both timeless and forward-thinking. • Warm Hollis Voice Pressing

    5 out of 5 stars
    xbiesvoo5 January 2026United States🇺🇸

I'm really enjoying this pressing. The separation is fantastic, and Hollis' voice sounds warmer and more natural than on other formats.

  • Crisp and Powerful Audio

    4 out of 5 stars
    xtqahu7431 December 2025United States🇺🇸

This version is quiet and super crisp. The audio is mastered loud and has a lot of punch.

  • Amazing but with some noise

    4 out of 5 stars
    OgbH027 December 2025United States🇺🇸

This is absolutely amazing. However, like others have noted, my copy had some crackling and popping sounds. Side A was more affected than side B. I gave it a clean with L'Art Du Son on a vacuum machine and a Humminguru. I'll try cleaning it again to see if that improves things. I generally have great experiences with Optimal's pressings. Still, I'm happy to have this in my collection. My setup consists of a Technics SL-1200GR2 with Ortofon 2M Black LVB, Naim Supernait 3 feeding into Sonus Faber Electa Amator III.

  • SV Edition Sounds Fantastic

    5 out of 5 stars
    xtlaxbebejk23 December 2025United States🇺🇸

In my opinion, this record sounds fantastic. It's peaceful and full of energy, with an excellent sound. I'd say the same about all the other SV editions I own, around half a dozen or so. I used to come across those US EMI/Manhattan pressings all the time for next to nothing, and I'd always snag them, keep the one with the least amount of surface noise, and give the rest to my buddies. Then I got my hands on this one when it dropped, and now it's the only copy I've got. A mate of mine has a decent copy of the 2012 version (the one with the DVD), and we did some side-by-side listening on his top-notch setup. We couldn't find much of a difference in sound quality between the two LPs, but my copy has a tad fewer pops and ticks.

  • Disappointing Reissue Quality

    4 out of 5 stars
    LwJiwSinnrWiboxqm5 December 2025United States🇺🇸

I've got the same problem with my copy as the Ba Da Bing version of "Laughing Stock." It's full of popping noises. Both were bought brand new. Neither came with a small price tag. Now, they seem like a bargain. I've completely lost trust in reissues and the places that press them.
