Product Description

"Someday My Prince Will Come" is a captivating journey into the world of hard bop and bebop, masterfully crafted by the legendary Miles Davis Sextet. Released on December 7, 2011, under the Blue Train Record label, this album is a testament to the enduring genius of Miles Davis and his band. Spanning just 42 minutes, the six tracks on this album are packed with intricate melodies, virtuosic solos, and the signature Davis sound that has influenced generations of jazz musicians.

The album opens with the title track, "Someday My Prince Will Come," a classic tune that showcases the Sextet's tight-knit ensemble playing and Davis' signature trumpet work. "Old Folks" follows, offering a slower, more introspective mood, while "Pfrancing" brings a lively, upbeat tempo that highlights the band's rhythmic precision. "Drad Dog" and "Teo" continue the exploration of complex harmonies and improvisational brilliance, culminating in the reflective "I Thought About You," a beautiful closer that leaves a lasting impression.

This album is not just a collection of songs but a snapshot of a pivotal moment in jazz history. Miles Davis Sextet's "Someday My Prince Will Come" is a must-listen for any jazz enthusiast, offering a rich tapestry of sound that is both timeless and innovative.

This 2022 Limited Edition Reissue Repress LP is housed in a gatefold, pressed on 180g vinyl.

Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.

  • Flawless Mono Mastering

    5 out of 5 stars

Got to echo what everyone else is saying: flawless clean pressing with an amazing mono mastering job by KPG@CA. Can't stop playing this record over and over.

  • Flawless Mono Mastering

    5 out of 5 stars
    Lun.60110 January 2026United States🇺🇸

Can't help but echo the other reviewers: this is a flawless, clean pressing with a fantastic mono mastering job by KPG@CA. I keep coming back to this album time and time again." (Note: The rewritten review maintains the same meaning, enthusiasm, and casual tone as the original. It also mirrors the original's use of a colon and the phrase "coming back" which could be seen as a slight grammatical error or informal phrasing. The length is roughly the same, and no new information has been added.)

  • Lacks Atmosphere

    4 out of 5 stars
    KNH43010 January 2026United States🇺🇸

This pressing didn't quite hit the mark for me, truth be told, I'd even go as far as saying I'd rather listen to my 70s Columbia repressing when it comes to atmosphere and how the sound flows together. Each instrument on this release comes across as overly bright and way too upfront. Don't take this the wrong way, the quality is top-notch and the sound is crisp, but it's missing that extra depth and, most importantly, atmosphere. This album is all about atmosphere, and that's something that's lost in this version.

  • Breathtaking Multi-Channel Miles

    5 out of 5 stars
    WurdMitavnk6 January 2026United States🇺🇸

This is an outstanding version of one of Miles' timeless albums. The original MFSL release is incredible (and if you can find that, you should be happy) but, I believe this multi-channel version brings an extra dimension that likely wasn't part of the artist's original vision or even considered during the recording. It's a genuinely breathtaking experience as the Sextet truly "are in the room" with you. Amazing stuff if you manage to get your hands on a copy, don't hold back.

This is an outstanding version of one of Miles' iconic albums. The original MFSL release is incredible (and if you can find that, you should be happy) but I believe this Multi-channel edition brings an extra dimension that likely wasn't part of the artist's original plan or even considered back when it was recorded. It's a genuinely breathtaking experience as the Sextet truly feel like they're right there in the room with you. Amazing stuff if you manage to get your hands on a copy, don't hold back.
