Choosing the top Larry Carlton solo album is tough since they're all a bit of a mixed bag. This one's no exception, but it does pack some of his finest tracks. Late-night tunes like "Last Nite" and "10pm" shine. Abe Laboriel's bass playing, as always, is phenomenal. "Blues Bird" is alright. The rest of the album, though, is either outdated, dull, or just plain bad.
Larry and some top-notch session musicians deliver stunning fusion tunes. Tracks like "10pm" and A1, B1 might just be the highlights here. The guitar sounds are gorgeous, though there's a fair bit of that classic 80s studio reverb. Quality pressing, too.
