Product Description

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Indian classical music with Tarun Bhattacharya's "Shades of the Santoor," a captivating album released on March 1, 2012, under the Aimrec label. This 71-minute journey showcases the mesmerizing skills of Tarun Bhattacharya, a maestro of the santoor, a traditional Indian instrument known for its delicate and resonant tones.

The album is a beautiful exploration of two ragas, Raga Rageshree and Raga Kirwani, each offering a unique and evocative musical experience. The first three tracks delve deep into Raga Rageshree, starting with a soulful Aalap, Jor, and Jhala, followed by a Vilambit (slow) Gat in Teental, and concluding with a Drut (fast) Gat in Teental. Each rendition allows Tarun Bhattacharya to display his virtuosity and emotional depth, making the santoor sing with a voice that is both powerful and tender.

The album then transitions to a Pahadi, a light and melodious composition that offers a refreshing contrast to the ragas. Finally, the album concludes with Raga Kirwani, a raga known for its serene and contemplative mood, providing a fitting end to this musical voyage.

"Shades of the Santoor" is a testament to Tarun Bhattacharya's mastery over the santoor and his ability to evoke a wide range of emotions through his music. Whether you are a seasoned connoisseur of Indian classical music or a newcomer eager to explore its rich traditions, this album promises a rewarding and enriching experience.
