While Chepito and Dave Brown are missing, this album captures that classic Santana essence from the late 1960s. Greg Rolie's "Anywhere You Want To Go" even echoes the feel of "Evil Ways". It's an excellent record, smooth and polished, yet it doesn't quite hit me as hard as the original Santana tracks did when I first discovered them. But then, I'm a bit older now, and as Thom Wolfe put it, "You can't go home again". Still, this double album is fantastic. The best way to enjoy it is on vinyl, one side at a time. The pressing is superb, and the cover art is stunning—embossed gloss with the tiger's eyes, teeth, and a few top whiskers standing out. It's a delight to hold, examine, and listen to. The entire presentation is a true masterpiece.
