Superb vinyl pressing / mastering. Noise-free and full of life. Among the best sounding records in my collection.
Best album he's done, nearly feels like a Dire Straits record. Lovely soundscape.
The bloke with the guitar and that voice, he had, no, he had it all on this incredible album. Absolute permanent rotation for me.
Translated automatically,Absolutely phenomenal in every aspect. Crisp, deep, and incredibly immersive audio experience. Just make sure to give it a thorough cleaning and prepare to be amazed.
It's a bit unclear whether Knopfler's losing his touch or if it's just the direction music is taking these days. Either way, this album is a significant improvement over Golden Heart. It's got a faster pace in some parts, slower in others, and a wonderful variety of instruments blended together. If you play this on a high-quality Hi-Fi system with powerful bass and crisp highs, it's an entirely new experience, just like all Dire Straits records. Even the more laid-back tracks on this album have a brighter feel to them, less gloomy than those on GH. The experimentation with instruments, styles, and rhythms is fantastic. You can tell Knopfler puts a lot of effort into his music, and it really shows. I've been listening to this album since 2002 and still haven't grown tired of it. My top picks are What It Is, Sailing (moody vibes), Baloney (awesome bass line and guitar sound), Speedway (whoa, that's unique!), and Junkie Doll (classic blues/rock feel). Unfortunately, the rest of the songs, especially the faster ones like Do America, didn't quite hit the mark for me. This album is definitely worth purchasing, and if it had three more standout tracks, I'd rate it a 5. I'm giving it a 4. Oh, and by the way, some of these songs might need a few listens to fully appreciate the mood and rhythm. Give it a shot, and you might just find it growing on you!
