• Vinyl Warmth Enhances Hauschka's Piano

  I'm not sure if I just got lucky, but this vinyl record (meaning my copy) is truly perfect - the surface is super quiet, perfectly flat, and there's not a single loud click you can hear across all four sides. It's an absolute joy to listen to. The music itself is mostly soft piano with some other instruments and brighter percussion, like picking, rubbing, or grinding sounds. There's hardly any deep or pumping bass throughout. Compared to the digital version I also own (the regular one, not the expanded edition), the vinyl sounds much warmer and less harsh on the piano and keys. It's just more enjoyable to listen to than the digital version, which seems compressed and overly loud. Hauschka's playing is mostly "dry" with minimal effects, except for the natural room response. The vinyl adds a tiny bit of surface noise that actually enhances the atmosphere, in my opinion. Even though it's not "HIFI" in the strictest sense, it gives a more relaxed feel than the CD, which is totally clean but can sound a bit "harsh" at times. I play the vinyl when I want to relax and the digital version when I want to analyze every detail. Both are fantastic and showcase Hauschka's creative and playful approach to getting the most out of a classical instrument. Highly recommend it!
