I initially reviewed the marble version, and my thoughts on that one also apply to this clear version. There are just a few extra things I'd like to mention about the clear one. (You can check out my review of the marbled version on its Discogs page.)Vinyl:First off, Twiceshop calls this variant "ULTRA CLEAR," but when I got it, it's actually not see-through at all. The record has a grayish tint to it. I'm not sure if there was a mix-up with the labeling or if something went wrong during production. I'm also wondering if the PVC packaging had any effect on it. Also, my copy arrived warped, but it still plays fine. The warp is pretty noticeable and makes the needle move around a lot (it's shaped like a bump), but it's not a big deal. I was planning to collect both versions but think I'll just play the marbled one instead.Color-correcting Issues (a bit better on this one):The marbled version had some color issues, and they're a little better on this clear version. The middle circular sticker on the vinyl is color-corrected and has a clearer group photo than the marbled one. The side with the text is also a bit sharper and neater.Some of the other stuff included is color-corrected too. The group photo on the slipmat is correctly colored (less pink). But the back still has pink writing, and I'm not sure if that was on purpose or not. The poster seems to be the same as the marbled version. The lenticular also has different colors. The marbled one had a pinkish tint, while this clear one has a greenish tint.
On my green version, there's only three songs per side, unlike the other one with four on A and three on B. I must've messed up, 'cause instead of A4 it's B1, and the English 'Set Me Free' didn't make the cut :/
First off, let me say I snatched this up right away on Target after the big reveal. This drop was unique 'cause we had no clue what the tracks sounded like except for "Moonlight Sunrise." Still, I couldn't resist—it's TWICE and that song's a banger in my book. Now, about the packaging: it's kinda trash, honestly. When I opened the mailer, there was this strong plastic smell, like one of those inflatable pool toys. Not cool for the vinyl or anything inside. Plus, there was a tiny tear in the seam. Some folks have said their packages had a huge rip at the bottom, with the vinyl almost slipping out. And the protection? Barely there, so it bends super easy. A standard gatefold like Nayeon's vinyl would've been way better. Maybe JYPE's just trying out different stuff for U.S. vinyl production. (Just realized: since the variants are all over the place, they probably didn't want Onces getting confused if their variant wasn't what they expected.) Oh, and the tape they used? Total mess. Saw a bunch of unboxings where the tape didn't come off clean, and mine was the same—tried to be careful but no dice. The vinyl variants are pretty neat, though. Some folks got ones heavy on black, white, or pink, or even a mix. I got a gorgeous, perfectly marbled pink and white one! Stunning. Sound quality's great—super clear and crisp. Only issue's the pops during track transitions. There's a pop a few seconds after "Moonlight Sunrise" ends and another before "Got The Thrills" starts. The rest of the songs have one pop when they end, but at least there's no popping during the actual songs. The poster's got a bit of tinting, unfortunately. The outside front has a slight pink hue, and the back edges have a tiny color bleed from the inside. Inside's perfect, though—the colors are spot on. The slipmat's pretty cool too. I was actually looking for one, so this was a nice surprise. Quality's good, feels like the one that comes with the AT-LP60X. The graphic's clear enough, not super sharp but not blurry either. Colors are right, but the black side's got a noticeable pink tint on the logo and title. Might vary from slipmat to slipmat, though. The lenticular's also really neat. Bottom line: if you're into the album or just love TWICE, I'd say go for it. Just be careful storing it—packaging's kinda iffy and might mess with other stuff. I'd definitely repack it with proper inner/outer sleeves.
I've never been so let down by kpop packaging. You'd expect something like a paper sleeve or gatefold, but a pvc jacket that tears so easily? It's just awful. ONCE and every kpop collector deserves way better than this.
Absolutely loving the Ube Swirl! So, I'd preordered it, but then at Target, I couldn't help myself while waiting for the preorder to arrive. I ended up grabbing the green version in-store. It's also fantastic, but there's a small issue - the green one has a printing error. No English translation of 'set me free'. Has anyone else noticed this with the green variant? The Ube one, though, had all seven tracks listed perfectly.
