Product Description

Immerse yourself in the rich, resonant tones of the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra as they bring Sergei Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 3 in A Minor, Op. 44 to life. Released on January 5, 2018, under the SWRmusic label, this album is a testament to the orchestra's prowess and the timeless beauty of Rachmaninoff's composition.

The album opens with the dramatic overture from Khovanshchina, setting the stage for the symphony's three captivating movements. The first movement, "Lento - Allegro moderato - Allegro," unfolds with a sense of anticipation and grandeur, showcasing the orchestra's dynamic range. The second movement, "Adagio ma non troppo - Allegro vivace," offers a poignant contrast, blending introspective melodies with lively rhythms. The final movement, "Allegro - Allegro vivace," concludes the symphony with a triumphant flourish, demonstrating the orchestra's technical precision and expressive depth.

Under the baton of the legendary conductor Kurt Sanderling, this recording captures the essence of Rachmaninoff's masterpiece. Sanderling's deep admiration for Rachmaninoff's music is evident in every note, making this album a must-listen for classical music enthusiasts and newcomers alike. With a duration of 49 minutes, this album is a compact yet powerful journey through one of Rachmaninoff's most celebrated works.
