Wes's Portrait is an amazing album. The Japanese version I got has a fantastic audio quality and comes with a cool old-school cardboard cover.
For any Wes enthusiast, this mid-career OGD trio is a fantastic pick. Typically, his work on the Riverside albums allows him more room to explore compared to his time at Verve and A&M, where his solo performances seemed to become more concise over time. There are parts in this album where some slapback delay is used on Wes' guitar, which I personally find unnecessary. Apart from that, it's a solid showcase of this guitar virtuoso's extraordinary skills. Highly recommended.
