Amon Tobin's music has taken a different turn with this album. Unlike his earlier works that had a cinematic warmth, this one feels a bit lackluster. A couple of tracks still capture that classic vibe, like "Mighty Micro People.
Tobin's work here is a fantastic follow-up to his previous efforts. After 'Premutation', it seems he aimed to innovate and create something entirely fresh. 'Bricolage' and 'Premutation' still bear some resemblance to 'Adventures In Foam', which relied heavily on sampled jazz breaks and movie clips. As he's mentioned, Tobin has a knack for taking old tunes, breaking them down, and transforming them into something entirely new. On 'Supermodified', he incorporates samples from the most surprising sources and weaves them into a musical tapestry. With 'Out From Out Where', he stretches his creative boundaries, resulting in an album that would make an incredible movie soundtrack. Listening to this album is like embarking on a journey to somewhere extraordinary...
A really superb album by Amon Tobin. My favourite without a doubt. A style all his own, full of echoes, and tracks that are quite experimental yet remain melodious! And that track Verbal, absolutely brilliant!
Translated automatically,Superb album by Amon Tobin. My favourite. A truly unique style, full of echoes, and some quite bold but melodious tracks! And that classic track Verbal, too powerful.
Translated automatically,I owned this on CD for what feels like forever (I reckon I still do)... but spinning this album on vinyl, it's a whole new ball game. "Cosmo Retro Intro Outro" is absolutely mind-blowing on vinyl. It'll give your brain a good shake-up. Heavy stuff!
