Product Description

Embryo's debut album, "Opal," is a captivating journey into the vibrant and experimental world of German krautrock. Released on January 1, 1970, under the Ohr label, this seminal work blends the raw energy of krautrock with the cosmic expanses of space rock, the intricate layers of progressive rock, and the fluid improvisations of jazz fusion. Clocking in at just 34 minutes, the album is a tight, dynamic collection of seven tracks, each remastered to bring out the richness and depth of the original recordings.

From the hypnotic grooves of "Opal" to the frenetic energy of "Revolution," Embryo crafts a sound that is both groundbreaking and timeless. "Glockenspiel" introduces a playful, almost whimsical element, while "Got No Time" and "Call" showcase the band's ability to merge rock intensity with jazz sophistication. The album closes with "End of Soul" and "People from out the Space," tracks that push the boundaries of psychedelic exploration and leave a lasting impression.

"Opal" is a testament to Embryo's innovative spirit and their pioneering role in the krautrock movement. It's an album that demands attention, offering a sonic experience that is as thought-provoking as it is entertaining. Whether you're a seasoned fan of progressive rock or a newcomer to the genre, "Opal" is a compelling introduction to the world of Embryo and their influential sound.

This 2021 Reissue Remastered LP is housed in a gatefold, pressed on 180g vinyl.

  • Analog Feel, Flawless Pressing

    5 out of 5 stars
    Rlxvlifeu_232 September 2025United States🇺🇸

Excellent pressing. It's free from any noticeable physical flaws. The audio has a very analog feel and is a bit muffled, but it's not off-key or bothersome. Really pleased with my buy.

  • Boring, Disappointing

    Wofhul532 May 2025United States🇺🇸

The Pressing comes across as quite boring. I'm truly let down by it.

  • Side A Mislabelled as B

    4 out of 5 stars
    QudxetqozeCaugk8 April 2025United States🇺🇸

In my version (and I bet the other 499 too) side A is marked as side B and side B is side A!

  • Enjoyable Original Sound Quality

    4 out of 5 stars
    Lifhhotmafatj18 January 2025United States🇺🇸

I had a listen to the original version a while back on my player. Despite the time that's passed, I'm pretty sure this issue doesn't skimp on sound quality. It's not a later remix either. In short, if you're not a collector who needs the die cut and all that, this is good enough to enjoy. I like the music, but that's pretty subjective. If you're into this type of disharmonic-harmonies and unexpected sounds, you'll definitely enjoy it. (In a strange way, I find it overlapping with the Third Ear Band.)

  • Brilliant Free Prog Rock Album

briliant album, awsome free ptog rock, incredable musicians, fantastic begining to keep going
