I'm really torn about this one, the first side with the orange version is just awful. It's packed with noise from start to finish, particularly between songs. But side B? It's like a whole new record, sounds fantastic, not too over the top despite having six tracks crammed together, and it's pretty much noise-free. I always give my records a wash before playing them, so in the end, I'm sending it back and grabbing the CD instead. *IGNORE and check out the update above.
I've got the standard black vinyl version. The only track that didn't quite hit the mark for me was "Adventure is Out There," though it was still alright (the highs are a tad muffled). "Way Less Sad" and "Ok Overture" were standouts, especially the latter with its fantastic bass. All in all, I'd definitely recommend it if you're a fan of the album—it's been my favorite release of the year so far.
After giving it a good clean (VPI), this plain black vinyl sounds fantastic to me. The bass is strong all the way through, and there's hardly any noise or problems. Happy I grabbed it before it gets crazy pricey like their other records :/
My side A is making a lot of noise. I'm not sure if others have this issue. Even after I cleaned it, the noise was still loud enough to bother me while I was listening.
Just had to update my thoughts on this record: I snagged a fresh copy straight from their site on October 1st, 2022, and it's a NIGHT AND DAY improvement over my old one! You can't tell the difference between the old and new pressings by looking, they're identical in markings and color. But let me tell you, this new copy is fantastic! It's a no-brainer 5/5, so if your copy isn't hitting that sweet spot, keep hunting for a better one!
