This album has a few alright songs. But it feels like he tried to ride the coattails of the Tootsie theme, since a couple tracks sound like cheap knockoffs, just not as good. A few tracks are just plain awful, like the last two. There's way too many songs with vocals. Overall, this is Grusin's weakest album.
This album has a few decent songs, but it feels like Grusin tried to ride the wave of the Tootsie theme song's success. A couple tracks sound too similar, but they're not as good. Some tracks are just plain awful, especially the last two. There are too many songs with vocals. Overall, this is Grusin's weakest album.
I'm really appreciative of and drawn to Haunting Me and Thankful and Thoughtful; they're my top picks from this album. I genuinely believe the songs with vocals outshine the instrumental ones that are loaded with synths. It's not exceptional, but it's definitely better than the 1/5 rating another reviewer gave it.
A tad cumbersome and excessive in parts, it's marred by that classic early 80βs production sound.
A tad unwieldy and excessive in parts, hampered by a mid-80s production.
