  • Jazz-Inspired Comfortable Grooves

    4 out of 5 stars
    wriabxcid25 March 2025United States🇺🇸

Mocha Supremo" delivers on its name with a rich, sweet darkness. As Buscemi's debut album, it's smooth and invigorating, providing a comforting warmth and a welcome energy lift. "It Might as Well Be Quiet…" serves up some solid breaks and a driving beat, yet it never overpowers the music or the subtle Astrud Gilberto sample; "Noise's Leasing" keeps up the same vibe. Buscemi focuses more on setting the mood than on the rhythm, which really sets his music apart. There's a strong jazz influence woven throughout -- like on "Fingersnappin’ After Dark" -- but it's just the right amount to make its presence known. "Desole" is my standout track – it's got that dark, mysterious edge, but it's also got a killer groove.

"It Might as Well Be Quiet…" kicks off with some solid beats and a driving rhythm, yet it complements the music and the subtle Astrud Gilberto sample without overpowering them; "Noise's Leasing" keeps up this balance. There's also a noticeable jazz influence throughout -- evident on "Fingersnappin’ After Dark" -- but it's just the right amount to enhance the tracks. "Desole" stands out as my top pick – it's got that dark, enigmatic vibe but still manages to be funky.
