Great copy of a often overlooked album. Side A is just packed with killer tracks.
This album sounds great and is a go-to for me to put on. It's not as well-received by critics overall, and I believe that's mostly due to the rap track; it's not bad, but it does make the album feel a bit uneven and not as cohesive. Still, it's definitely got that Digitalism vibe, so it's worth having.
This album sounds great and is a go-to for me to put on. It's not as highly rated by critics, and I believe that's partly due to the rap track; it's well-produced but disrupts the overall theme, making the album feel a bit disjointed. That said, it's unmistakably Digitalism, so it's worth having.
Digitalism carry on with their lively, high-energy electronic sound on MIRAGE, kicking off with the pulsating, gleaming "Arena" before the rock-infused "Battlecry" bursts onto the scene. "Go Time" maintains the fast pace but leans towards a brighter vibe, while the instrumental "Utopia" segues into the midtempo "Destination Breakdown," reminiscent of a Cut Copy tune. The duo dives back into dancefloor material with "Power Station" and the delightful "Open Waters," followed by the more reflective melodic progression of "Mirage (Part One)" and the throbbing "Part Two." They add a pleasant warmth to the chanting on "Indigo Skies," though the rap on "The Ism" is just okay. But the subtle disco hint on "No Cash" unexpectedly works well before "Blink" wraps up the album on a sparkling note. All in all, a fun listen.
After a couple of listens, I've really grown to love this album. It sounds incredible! The quality of the pressing is fantastic too. 5/5, no doubt about it!
