  • Cyndi's Blues Transformation

    4 out of 5 stars
    ldtiiyhoixi21 September 2025United States🇺🇸

After basking in the spotlight, making hearts flutter as Captain Lou Albano's muse, and evolving from a carefree "Girl Who Just Wants To Have Fun" to a powerhouse vocalist demanding respect, where does one go from there? Well, if you've got the talent, the grit, and the drive, you dive headfirst into the sultry, smoldering world of blues, shaking up the night with table-top slow grinds. And hey, it couldn't hurt to have some blues legends like Allen Toussaint, B.B. King, and Jonny Lang backing you up. Plus, tackling some of the most iconic blues tracks ever, and giving them a feminine twist? That's just icing on the cake. And let's not forget, recording this masterpiece on classic analog gear just might be the cherry on top. The first time I heard this album, it felt like a hidden treasure, unearthed from another era. Every song is packed with emotion, brimming with life, and pulsating like a midnight tryst, weaving a dreamy, intoxicating spell that you can feel but never quite grasp. Give "Rollin' and Tumblin'" or the spine-tingling "Down So Low" a spin and see if you can deny their magic. All I can say is, "Cyndi, it's been a long time coming."Review by Jenell Kesler

  • Cyndi's Blues Revival

    4 out of 5 stars

After making hearts flutter for Captain Lou Albano, grooving her way through the airwaves, and evolving from a "Girl Who Just Wants To Have Fun" to a woman demanding recognition for her powerful voice and impressive vocal range, where does one go from here? A fantastic starting point, if you've got the skills, the confidence, and the talent, is to dive into the sultry, smoldering, nightclub blues that sizzle on the turntable ... of course, it wouldn't hurt to collaborate with blues legends like Allen Toussaint, B.B. King, and Jonny Lang ... and naturally, you'd want to cover some of the most innovative blues tracks ever to shimmer under the moonlight ... and since you're a woman, you're gonna' inject these traditionally male songs with an extra dose of allure by adding a female perspective ... and lastly, it just might reach its peak by recording this fresh piece of vinyl using classic analog gear. The first time I heard this album, it sounded like a hidden gem from the past, only recently unearthed. Every song is sincere, vibrant, and intoxicating, pressing forward like passionate lovers in the dark, crafting a mesmerizing, sweat-inducing dance of romance that you can sense but can't quite grasp. Go ahead, give "Rollin' and Tumblin'" or the spine-tingling "Down So Low" a listen and see if you can deny it. All I can say is, "Cyndi, it's been a long time coming." Review by Jenell Kesler

After making goo-goo eyes at Captain Lou Albano, dancing through the radio waves, and evolving from a "Girl Who Just Wants To Have Fun" to a woman seeking recognition for her powerful voice and impressive range, where does one go from here? For someone with the skills, confidence, and talent, diving into the smoldering, sultry blues of nightclub tabletop grooves could be the perfect next step. And why not collaborate with blues legends like Allen Toussaint, B.B. King, and Jonny Lang? Plus, interpreting some of the most unique blues tracks under the moonlight could be just the ticket. And let's face it, a woman's touch can make these traditionally male songs even sexier. Lastly, recording this new vinyl using classic analog equipment might just bring everything to a perfect crescendo. The first time I heard this album, it felt like a lost treasure, only recently unearthed. Every song is filled with emotion, vibrancy, and a breathless energy that pushes like lovers in the dead of night, creating a dreamy, sweaty, hip-shaking romance you can feel but can't quite grasp. Give "Rollin' and Tumblin'" or the chilling "Down So Low" a listen and see if you can deny it. All I can say is, "Cyndi, it's been a long time coming." Review by Jenell Kesler
