Here's the only Bill Evans performance from The Village Gate that's ever been put out, giving you a front-row seat to an amazing show by one of jazz's finest trios. That evening, the stage was graced by three musicians at their peak: Evans, bassist Eddie Gomez, and drummer Marty Morell. The recording was handled by George Klabin using an analog tube console.
Incredible set, superb quality pressing, heavy-duty vinyl and the audio is really nice w/45rpm. The performance is crisp and personal.
The audio quality isn't fantastic, yet it's an improvement over Ronnie Scott's. That said, it's packed with incredible live shows! Bill and Eddie just wrapped up a four-week tour together at Ronnie Scott's, and word is Bill was in top form. What a live album!
Limited Edition, Numbered - so what's the max quantity, is it really a limited edition? Here 4000 copies numbered and called limited edition, honestly?
The pressing is good, but the sound quality isn't great because of how it was recorded. The jacket on my copy arrived all bent, so it looks like it got wet. The songs on this are fantastic, and even though it's not his top performance, it's still a must-have for any of his fans.
