Product Description

Immerse yourself in the rich classical heritage of Poland with Leopold Stokowski's "Leopold Stokowski in Poland." This captivating album, released on September 27, 2021, under the Polskie Radio label, showcases the legendary conductor's profound connection with Polish music. The album spans a little over an hour, offering a diverse collection of pieces that highlight Stokowski's mastery and the depth of Polish classical compositions.

The journey begins with "A Report on Leopold Stokowski's Welcome to Poland," setting the stage for the musical exploration that follows. The album then delves into the poignant and deeply moving "Stabat Mater, Op. 53" by Karol Szymanowski, featuring stunning performances by soprano, alto, baritone, mixed choir, and orchestra. Each movement of this sacred choral work is a testament to Stokowski's ability to evoke profound emotions through music.

The second half of the album is dedicated to Stokowski's interpretation of Witold Lutosławski's "Symphony No. 1," a work that showcases the conductor's dynamic range and interpretive brilliance. The symphony's four movements, from the energetic "Allegro giusto" to the lively "Allegro vivace," demonstrate Stokowski's ability to bring out the best in both the music and the performers.

Adding a unique dimension to the album is "Leopold Stokowski in conversation with Witold Stankowski," offering listeners a glimpse into Stokowski's thoughts and insights on Polish music and his experiences conducting in Poland. This intimate conversation adds a personal touch to the album, making it not just a collection of performances but also a window into the mind of one of classical music's most celebrated conductors.

Whether you're a longtime fan of Leopold Stokowski or a newcomer to his work, "Leopold Stokowski in Poland" is a compelling exploration of Polish classical music, conducted with the skill and passion that have made Stokowski a legend in the world of classical music.
