Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
Got my autographed copy straight from Kiwanuka's official site - zero scratches, no clicks or pops. The audio quality is quite decent as well. And I haven't even given it a clean yet!
After checking out the reviews here, I'm left wondering if I'm the only one who got a clean, clear, and crisp vinyl record. It sounds fantastic on my Technics setup. I believe the production team aimed for a '60s sound on some tracks, like "Hero," with that wobble and flutter to mimic an older recording. But is it intentionally off, or was it engineered that way? You'll have to make that call. I'm really digging both the vinyl and the digital release, though.
Quality control here is downright appalling. The moment I took off the shrink wrap, the issues were glaring. There's a huge scratch that stretches across the whole Side D. Plus, both records have noticeable scuffs right out of the sleeve. When I put them on my vacuum record cleaning machine, it was obvious that both LPs are terribly warped. The platter only touches near the center, while at the outer edge, there's a gap of about 0.5 cm. This isn't just a small flaw — it's severe warping. To add insult to injury, there aren't even any anti-static inner sleeves included. For a release priced this high, it's clear cost-cutting and feels like a total rip-off. This pressing should've been caught by quality control. I'm steering clear of new Polydor releases from now on.
There's a minor problem with my copy. In "Piano Joint (This Kind Of Love)", there's some noise in the right channel all through the track. Apart from that, it's all good. It's a gorgeous record overall.
It's so incredibly pleasant to listen to… Smooth like silk, but there's a bit of roughness in there, and that's exactly how it should be.
