Even if the lineup isn't enough to convince you, the tunes will reel you in. Am I losing it? I swear I can hear a train in the backdrop of "When Face Gets Pale.
Unlike the first release by Embryo Records, this one's audio quality is a significant improvement.
Terrible audio quality. Steer clear. This is my first bad experience with an Atlantic release. Their music is too good for this.
If I've got the right version and this is indeed the original mix, the key contrast with the more prevalent remix is that everything's a tad overdriven on the original. Still, it's an amazing album, a groundbreaking blend of Fusion and freeform playing. Yet, the remix enhanced everything without sacrificing anything. There's chaotic, restless passages and one track especially with instances of breathtaking beauty, akin to the ambient explorations on the first two Weather Report records.
Quite an awesome and mind-bending album, with fantastic sound quality! Only downside is I'd love to hear more of Joe Henderson.
