Unit 111 in this batch. Mine had a pretty bad bowl distortion but the audio quality was fantastic. Instruments were clearly distinct and there was zero background noise, even when cranked up loud.
Absolutely an amazing sounding album. I'd love to see big labels (and those acting like they're not, such as Craft) put out more tracks like this one.
Bloody loud, and a stuck bit in the middle of Never Tell. I'm all about this album, but I'll need a better copy to enjoy it through headphones.
In line with what others have said - this press is oddly loud. Quite let down.
Let me start by saying, this album is absolutely amazing. It showcases a much darker and eerie side of the band compared to their first release. Both albums are must-haves. Now, about this reissue, it's quite basic. The cover is pretty standard, nothing to write home about. It does come with a poly lined inner sleeve, which is great and should be included in all new vinyl releases, in my opinion, but that's where the positives end. The vinyl itself is flat and heavy. It had a bit of paper residue, but that was easily cleaned off with a carbon fibre brush. As for the sound quality, 'flat' is the word that comes to mind. When compared to my original 1984 (New Zealand) pressing, it lacks some of the clarity and dynamics that the older version has. That being said, it's not the worst sounding record I've ever heard, and it's definitely better than the 2024 reissue, which I find dull and lifeless. I was really expecting more from Craft with this 40th anniversary edition, especially since it's promoted as 'AAA from the original master tapes.' It truly deserves better than what's offered here. I'd recommend finding an original pressing and steering clear of this overpriced disappointment.
