This album offers a West Coast take on soul jazz, brimming with a generous helping of brass. Even at this early point, Richard Holmes had that certain GROOVE, which is why it's called "The Groove". Standout tracks are "That Healin' Feelin'" and "Good Groove". This is a 1961 mono pressing, with impressive range from start to finish, and a clear, expansive soundstage. I'm amazed this record was made 63 years ago, it's been so well looked after (or barely played) over the years, clean and quiet, with next to no surface noise.
