Unfiltered and straight to the point. Excellent vinyl mastering. The intensity hits you right away.
Prior to their legendary status, before the heartbreaking end, there was simply a trio from the Pacific Northwest creating an incredible amount of noise. With From The Muddy Banks Of The Wishkah, we're given a raw and fierce reminder that Nirvana was never just a band for the radio — they were a live embodiment of chaos, emotion, and punk-driven fury. This 1996 release, arriving two years after Kurt Cobain's passing, acted as a stark contrast to the tranquility of Unplugged in New York. It's a grunge livewire, featuring 17 tracks recorded in venues worldwide, from London to Seattle to Amsterdam, all soaked in distortion, stage sweat, and feedback. The renditions of “Aneurysm,” “Drain You,” and “Breed” here are electrified — quicker, meaner, and far more aggressive than their studio versions. A crucial aspect of this album is its unfiltered nature. Cobain's voice strains, the guitar shrieks, the drums detonate — and that's the magic. It's genuine. You experience the full might of Nirvana as they were live, not concerned with hit singles or pristine recordings, but pure release. It's loud, unkempt, and profoundly human. This Sonopress-pressed CD edition is a Euro release that offers superb audio quality without losing that live edge. Packaged with photos, liner notes, and a powerful emotional impact, it's more than just a compilation — it's a homage to the raw power of a band that reshaped a generation and left behind a storm of sound.https://www.pulserecords.pt/product/nirvana-from-the-muddy-banks-of-the-wishkah-cd/
Great quality record, not as booming as the CD but still mighty impressive. In my view, this is Nirvana at their peak, they sound unpolished and full of zeal, their tunes are fierce and the feedback is like an instrument sent from the heavens. A must-own.
Track D and it's hilarious chat is a steal! Adored this album when it dropped. Nirvana ripping through every tune a tad quicker than usual.
Currently giving this a spin. I first got into Nirvana with their 90s CD. This 2LP set really nails that raw, powerful sound, but it's even more fleshed out across the three sides, and the extra chat on side 4 is a nice touch. It's fantastic ****!!! The packaging is cool too, but I wish they'd included a gatefold jacket with this one.
