Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
Unfortunately, the database doesn't mention it at all, but this is a remaster with the audio squashed to the max, making it quite exhausting to listen to. Plus, the track durations are even different from the original CD release.
The audio quality is good, but I've noticed that these Combat/Century Media vinyl reissues are arriving warped for some unknown reason. I experienced the same issue with the Dark Angel “Leave Scars” blue vinyl I purchased a few months ago. They can still be played thanks to my heavy record weight, but it's a real inconvenience because I can't close my record player's lid while a record is spinning. Century Media really needs to address this problem. Perhaps it's that ridiculous plastic wrap they seal around the album covers that's causing the issue.
Is anyone else seeing #E in the runout where #4 should be?
This vocalist is truly one of the standout singers from my era, just check out their take on Judas Priest's "Victim of Changes" from the EP. I had the chance to meet them once in Sweden, before a show in Fagersta. It was an unforgettable experience, as they say... and it really was. Of course, the drummer later joined Slayer. I've always been more into this style than growls, it's a shame the trend went the other way and many bands like this either took a long break, disappeared, or started new ventures. If you're going to sing metal, you've got to nail those high notes, you know? Slayer, you ask if they growl? Well, yes but they do hit those high notes too!
Wow, just a super quick take on this album - it's absolutely mind-blowing. Easily ranks among my top thrash picks ever, and those "Through Eyes of Glass" solos? Still untouchable. Back on Black has now earned a spot on my "trust me, just get it, it's gonna be great" list for colored vinyl. The sound quality is phenomenal, and my copy's been played to death yet still sounds crisp. Sure, you could wait for the original, but if you're on the fence about this reissue, just go for it. You'll be stoked.
