This hip hop album from last year is so underappreciated. I'm all about playing it on repeat.
This tape is a perfect showcase of my Coasts' style of Hip-Hop: no gang-related themes, just deep knowledge and funk influenced by the most popular hallucinogen. However, "Flying High" isn't without its bumps: MED and Declaime are the weak links in the group, and might've been better off sitting this one out. Throughout the album, I found myself eagerly anticipating an LMNO verse. His delivery is reminiscent of other European Emcees like Ubiquitous and Evidence, tackling everyday topics that blur the lines of the esoteric. When I heard him rhyme about "buying weed for the quantity ...<and> at certain times might splurge on the quality" and then dismiss the effects of kush on the same track, I knew I'd found a fellow spirit. "Flying High" is a great starting point for getting into LMNO's work, with two other regular Rappcats collaborators joining him. And of course, Lord Quas released an instrumental version of the album that I'll definitely be adding to my digital crate.
