I bought this record because I'm a hardcore bluegrass fan and pretty much collect everything by Flatt and Scruggs. These recordings are nothing like the hard-driving Flatt and Scruggs recordings that earned the duo their fame. The song selections are ok, and the record moves along like a pleasantly babbling brook, but it's nothing to write home about. Any of the records featuring Lester Flatt alongside Earl Scruggs is better than this one.

As a die-hard bluegrass enthusiast, I couldn't resist adding this album to my extensive Flatt and Scruggs collection. However, these tracks fall short of the energetic performances that made the duo legendary. The song choices are decent, and the record flows nicely like a gentle stream, but it's far from exceptional. In my opinion, any album showcasing Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs together surpasses this one.
