Fighting - Thin Lizzy

Product Description

Thin Lizzy, the Irish rock band fronted by the charismatic Phil Lynott, unleashed their fifth studio album, "Fighting," on January 1, 1975, under the EMI label. Clocking in at a concise 37 minutes, this classic and hard rock gem is a powerhouse of energy and raw talent. "Fighting" is a testament to Thin Lizzy's ability to blend hard-hitting riffs with melodic hooks, showcasing their growth and versatility as a band.

The album opens with the title track, "Fighting My Way Back," setting the tone for the rest of the record with its driving rhythm and anthemic chorus. Tracks like "Rosalie" and "Wild One" highlight the band's knack for crafting catchy, radio-friendly tunes, while "King's Vengeance" and "Suicide" delve into heavier, more aggressive territory. The band's dual-guitar attack, featuring Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham, is a standout feature, adding depth and texture to each song.

"Spirit Slips Away" offers a moment of introspection, showcasing Lynott's lyrical prowess and the band's ability to create a compelling ballad. The album's closer, "Ballad Of A Hard Man," is a fitting end, encapsulating the spirit of Thin Lizzy's music—raw, honest, and unapologetically rock 'n' roll.

"Fighting" is a must-listen for any fan of classic and hard rock, offering a glimpse into the early years of one of the genre's most influential bands. With its powerful performances and memorable songs, this album remains a testament to Thin Lizzy's enduring legacy.

This is a 2020 Reissue released as a LP.

  • Muffled but Brilliant Lizzy

    4 out of 5 stars
    nummceqxuw30 November 2025United States🇺🇸

I'm still puzzled about why so many of Thin Lizzy's original albums have a muffled sound quality, almost like they were recorded underwater. Despite that, they're still a fantastic band with a great collection of songs. This album, in particular, is an outstanding piece of work, filled with brilliant songs and unforgettable guitar anthems.

  • Disappointing Sound, Flawed Pressing

    2 out of 5 stars
    YQN622 September 2025United States🇺🇸

Picked up this one since I couldn't find any older versions nearby. The sound quality is disappointing, it's quite flat. I've had to boost the bass just to make it tolerable. The highs are way too pronounced, the mids are lackluster, and the lows are barely there. I was really hoping for a better audio experience. I own Nightlife, Jailbreak, and Johnny the Fox - all from the 70s pressings, and they sound absolutely incredible, like a dream come true. In comparison, this one is a letdown. Plus, if you inspect the back cover closely, you'll notice some errors. The card symbols next to the band members' names are mixed up and incorrectly placed next to the song titles. It's not like the initial releases at all.

  • Fantastic Reissue, No Skips

    5 out of 5 stars
    tzyecofiy23 November 2024United States🇺🇸

Fantastic reissue. Played it from start to finish. No hissing or skips that you usually find in recent pressings. Definitely give this version a shot.

  • 75's Top Album Contender

    5 out of 5 stars
    ozs2r220 October 2024United States🇺🇸

Top album from '75? Perhaps, but it's definitely up there! Absolutely love this one

  • Rosalie's Cover Flaw

    3 out of 5 stars
    mans71824 September 2024United States🇺🇸

Rosalie doesn't sound so great, but at least it's not just a bad Bob Seger cover - the label did that on purpose, so half marks there. The other tracks are way better though.
