Super slim vinyl disc, but the bass is powerful, and the soundstage is wide open with impressive clarity. There's a bit of hiss in the background, but considering I picked up this record in 2025, I suppose that's par for the course. All in all, an amazing record. Setup: Pro-Ject Debut Pro with MoFi Ultratracker cartridge.

To me, no one in the reggae scene had a more powerful, consistent prime than Winston Rodney's, which stretched from his 1970 Studio One debut track ("Door Peeper") up to his 1980 album HAIL H.I.M. However, 1982's FAROVER signaled a change in his music, as it became less militant and more relaxed. Most of the tracks here are as heavy as the Spear had ever put out, but a few, like "Greetings" and "Education," were quite a bit more 'pop-oriented,' if you will. "She's Mine" might just be the perfect mix of both styles, a fantastic new spin on "Don't Mess With Jill" from his Studio One era. "Jah Is My Driver" wraps up the album on a high note, a declaration of intent that would become a staple in Burning Spear's live performances for years. This 1987 USA Heartbeat pressing sounds wonderfully clean, crisp, deep, and resonant, with the horn section and percussion standing out in particular. My copy plays smoothly, with some faint surface noise here and there, and a skip near the start of "Image.
