Today, I stumbled upon a copy of this record. The pressing details are -5S and -8S, with A1 on both sides. Apart from that, it's the same as the others mentioned. It sounds fantastic on my setup, which includes a Marantz tt-15s1 and an At 33ptg cart.
Well, Dynagroove. I ended up with a pretty good looking copy, but on my microline stylus (VM740ML), it sounds utterly terrible, with distortion in every loud part. Can't say how it'd perform with an old-school conical stylus, but I'd steer clear of this pressing if you're using a more modern shape. Speaker’s Corner has a reissue out there that should be free of that late 60s audio voodoo.
Amazing album, perfect for those new to Jazz, and this re-release is equally impressive. The soundstage, separation, depth, dynamics…all top-notch! 👍🏻
To begin with, I'm not too well-versed in Paul Desmond's work. I was in the market for a mellow jazz vinyl from the past and ended up purchasing this album after checking out a few reviews and previewing a couple of tracks online. Let me tell you this: 1) I was absolutely not let down, and 2) Easy Living is a smooth 46 minutes of jazz that's like butter. Jim Hall is as cool as a gin and tonic on a lazy Saturday evening, and Paul Desmond's alto sax glides through the tracks like a gentle breeze. This has to be one of the most relaxed jazz albums ever created. The musicianship here is top-notch. Each player leaves ample space for the notes to resonate, and no one is encroaching on anyone else's territory. No jumbled notes, no hurried sections, just a consistent, classic jazz rhythm from start to finish. It's no surprise that Easy Living has landed on the top 200 all-time jazz recordings lists. It's a must-have, flavorful LP. Kick back, unwind, and enjoy this little journey to "Coolsville". I bet you won't be disappointed.
An amazing album, both in sound and music. Instantly calms you down. Paul Desmond and his jazz magic 😎
