Product Description

Dive into the vibrant and gritty world of Southern hip hop with Lil' Keke's "Don't Mess Wit Texas," released on August 18, 2017, under the independent label Seven 13 Music. This album is a powerful testament to Lil' Keke's enduring influence in the crunk and Southern hip hop scene, offering a raw and unfiltered look into the streets of Texas.

With a runtime of 1 hour and 15 minutes, "Don't Mess Wit Texas" is a comprehensive journey through Lil' Keke's lyrical prowess and storytelling abilities. The album kicks off with "Still Pimpin' Pens (Screwed)" and closes with the reflective "Still Pimpin Pens," creating a full-circle narrative that encapsulates the essence of Lil' Keke's artistry. Tracks like "It's Going Down," "Bounce & Turn," and "Can You Feel Me" showcase the high-energy, bass-heavy beats that define crunk music, while introspective cuts like "We Miss U 2" and "Sometimes" reveal a more vulnerable side of the artist.

Lil' Keke's signature flow and unapologetic lyricism shine throughout the album, addressing themes of street life, resilience, and the unbreakable spirit of the Southside. "Don't Mess Wit Texas" is not just an album; it's a celebration of Lil' Keke's legacy and a bold statement that solidifies his place in the annals of Southern hip hop history. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer to Lil' Keke's music, this album is a compelling exploration of the artist's evolution and the enduring power of Southern hip hop.

  • Southern Rap Masterpiece

    5 out of 5 stars
    -Gietiy-9 October 2025United States🇺🇸

This album is definitely in my top 3 rap records ever, it's a true masterpiece that perfectly captures the essence of my Southern roots. Keke has crafted everything from sultry slow jams like "Don't Ya Know" and "Serious Smoke" to tracks that delve deep into his past, like selling crack and the real meaning of being a gangsta, something not explored since DMG's '93 hit Rigormortiz. The album is packed with groovy weed and coke anthems, and almost every track is a banger, except for the slow jams which are perfect for dancing with a special someone. My personal favorites include "Southside" (Ke's most famous track besides "25 Lighters"), "It's Goin' Down", "Somethin' About the Southside", and "Niggas Be Hatin' Me", though it's tough to pick just those four! The beats are both hard and laid-back, making this album ideal for any party or a chill cruise in my Benz. I always find myself brimming with creative energy while listening, and I've written some of my best lyrics during this album's runtime. The beats offer a unique perspective, different from modern trap, and this album, along with the often overlooked Memphis scene, played a huge role in shaping the modern trap sound. I'm so glad this album was a hit in Texas and across the South, and that Keke never faded into obscurity. It's likely that the Southern Rap scene wouldn't be as big without the influence of this album and MP Da Last Don. Clearly, Master P hadn't crossed paths with Keke or he wouldn't have made that bold statement! This album is the epitome of trill. If you look up 'trill' in the dictionary, Southside will blast out with such force that it'll cause g-force effects and might even launch you backwards. It's that incredible of an album. So, why are you still reading? Go out and be a champion! Happy 25th Anniversary to this timeless classic! 11/10↘️🪩🔥💵

  • Southern Rap Masterpiece Turns 25

    5 out of 5 stars
    -Kouzoc-6 August 2025United States🇺🇸

This album is definitely in my top 3 rap albums ever, and it perfectly captures everything that's real about my Southern roots. Keke has crafted everything from sultry slow jams like "Don't Ya Know" and "Serious Smoke" to raw tales of his journey through the drug game and what it truly means to be a gangsta, something we haven't seen since DMG dropped "Rigormortiz" back in '93. The album is packed with groovy anthems about weed and coke, and almost every track is a banger, except for the slow jams that you can dance to with your lady. My personal favorites include "Southside" (Ke's most famous track besides "25 Lighters"), "It's Goin' Down", "Somethin' About the Southside", and "Niggas Be Hatin' Me", though it's super hard to pick just those four! With beats that are both hard-hitting and laid-back, this album is perfect for any party or cruising in my Benz during the day. It always gives me a creative boost, and I've written some of my best lyrics while listening to it. The beats are just different enough from modern trap to give me a fresh perspective, and this album, along with the Memphis scene, has had a huge influence on the foundation of modern trap. I'm glad this album was as popular in Texas and the South as it was, and that Keke never faded into obscurity. It's likely that the rest of the Southern rap scene wouldn't be as impactful without the influence from this album and "MP Da Last Don". Obviously, Master P hadn't met Ke' or he wouldn't have made that bold claim! This album is literally the definition of trill. If you look up trill in the dictionary, Southside will blast with such force that it will cause g-force effects to your face and possibly launch you backwards. It's that epic of an album. Why are you still reading and not listening? Go out and be a champion! Happy 25th Anniversary to this masterpiece! 11/10↘️🪩🔥💵

  • Southside: Timeless Southern Rap Masterpiece

    5 out of 5 stars
    -Woakak-4 August 2024United States🇺🇸

Without a doubt, this is one of my all-time top 3 rap albums, a true masterpiece that perfectly captures the essence of the Southern US. Keke has crafted everything from sultry slow jams like "Don't Ya Know" and "Serious Smoke" to tracks that delve deep into his journey through selling crack cocaine and what it truly means to be a gangsta, a perspective not explored since DMG dropped 'Rigormortiz' in '93. The album is packed with groovy anthems about weed and coke, and almost every track is a banger, except for the slower ones that you can dance with a special someone to. My personal favorites include "Southside" (Ke's most famous track besides "25 Lighters"), "It's Goin' Down", "Somethin' About the Southside", and "Niggas Be Hatin' Me", though it's tough to narrow it down to just those four! With beats that are both hard-hitting and laid-back, this album is perfect for any party or a leisurely drive in my Benz. I always find myself brimming with creative energy while listening, and some of my best lyrics come to me during its runtime. The beats offer a unique perspective, distinct from modern trap, and this album, along with the often-overlooked Memphis scene, played a significant role in shaping the foundation of modern trap. Thank goodness this album was as popular in Texas and the rest of the South as it was, ensuring Keke wasn't just a hidden gem. It's quite possible that the Southern Rap scene wouldn't have had the same impact without the influence of this album and 'MP Da Last Don'. Clearly, Master P hadn't crossed paths with Ke' or he wouldn't have made such a bold statement! In short, this album is the epitome of 'trill'. If you look up 'trill' in the dictionary, Southside will hit you with such force that it might just launch you backwards. It's that incredible of an album. So, why are you still reading? Go out there and listen, be a champion! Happy 25th Anniversary to this timeless classic! 11/10↘️🪩🔥💵

  • Southern Rap Masterpiece

    5 out of 5 stars
    -Kaoyeg-1 March 2024United States🇺🇸

Easily in my Top 3 rap albums ever, this phenomenal work perfectly captures everything true about my Southern US roots. Keke has crafted everything from steamy slow jams like "Don't Ya Know" and "Serious Smoke". He delves into subjects such as his rise through selling crack cocaine and what it really means to be a gangsta, a perspective not explored since DMG in '93 with Rigormortiz. The album is packed with groovy weed and coke anthems, and almost every track is a hit, except for the slower jams, which you can dance with a special someone to. I particularly adore "Southside" (Ke's most famous track besides "25 Lighters"), "It's Goin' Down", "Somethin' About the Southside", and "Niggas Be Hatin' Me", though it's super tough to pick just those four! With beats that are both hard-hitting and relaxed, this is one of my go-to albums for any party or cruising in my Benz at noon! I always find myself brimming with creative energy while listening, and I write some of my best lyrics during its runtime. The beats are just different enough from modern trap to offer a fresh creative perspective, and this album, along with the sadly overlooked Memphis scene, were hugely influential in shaping the modern trap sound. Thank goodness this album was as big in Texas and the South as it was, and Keke was never an unknown artist. It's entirely possible that the rest of Southern Rap's popularity would be far less significant without the influence from this album and MP Da Last Don. Clearly, Master P hadn't crossed paths with Ke' or he wouldn't have made that audacious claim! In short, this album is the very essence of trill. If you look up trill in the dictionary, Southside will blast with such intensity that it will cause g-force effects to your face and might even launch you backwards. It's that incredible of an album. Why are you still reading and not listening? Go out and be a champion! Happy 25th Anniversary to this masterpiece! 11/10↘️🪩🔥💵
