In 1975, the amazing flautist Herbie steps into the disco scene with this album, fittingly named "discothèque"! Kicking off with "hi-jack", Mann's take is super sultry and the flute just fits perfectly. It's a fantastic opener from the early days of disco. "Pick up the pieces" is a solid track, quite funky with some lovely, gentle percussions. Then there's Allen Toussaint's (or maybe Bob Crewe's?) "Lady marmalade" – it speaks for itself, even if it's not my top pick. Wrapping up the A-side is "Mediterranean", a brilliant and joyful jazz-disco tune. The B-side brings softer tracks, really highlighting that flute.
