  • Scanner's Musical Evolution

    5 out of 5 stars
    maycujsjaz7 January 2026United States🇺🇸

Scanner's musical abilities seem to have suddenly improved, unlike his past works where tracks sounded like random field recordings and not actual songs. Starting with Fingerbug, he uses more conventional methods of popular music composition. Barcode is worth a listen, but I prefer Throne of hives from this album. My lost love hunting your lost face eventually grows on me more than the previously mentioned track, but it takes a few listens. It's the sadness in it that takes time to get over (and the song's length).

Scanner seems to have suddenly discovered some musical prowess, unlike his previous works that sounded more like random field recordings than actual music. Starting with Fingerbug, he begins to employ conventional techniques of popular songwriting. Barcode is worth a listen, but I'm particularly fond of Throne of hives on this one. My lost love hunting your lost face grows on me over time, but it takes a few listens to fully appreciate (and the song's length doesn't help). It's the melancholy that takes time to get used to.

About Scanner

Scanner, a pioneering figure in electronic and experimental music, crafts immersive soundscapes that defy conventional genres. Blending dark ambient, IDM, drone, and glitch elements, Scanner's work is a sonic exploration that challenges the boundaries of traditional music.
