  • Bass-Rich ECM Gem

    4 out of 5 stars
    PzDibuu5 March 2025United States🇺🇸

Gary Peacock is on bass, and on a few tracks, he's doubled up, giving you twice the bass to enjoy. Jan Garbarek joins in on another two songs, with "December Greenwings" being a particular standout, while the album's peak, "Flower Crystals", includes an unnamed keyboard player. Another excellent release from ECM via Wakefield, boasting a rich depth in the lower frequencies and a sparkling quality to the soundstage. I've got an old copy from WSGE, the radio station, the cover's seen better days, but the vinyl is stunning, completely silent, with not a hint of surface noise.

  • Bass Solo Delight

    4 out of 5 stars
    howayipqiw16 November 2024United States🇺🇸

You might assume a solo bass record would be boring, but this one's anything but. It's got a nice variety to it and even features some sax by Jan Garbarek. Plus, the audio quality is excellent.

  • Rich Bass, Sparkling Soundstage

    4 out of 5 stars
    WqVizeo16 May 2024United States🇺🇸

Gary Peacock handles the bass duties, and on a few tracks, his playing is doubled up, creating a richer bass sound. Jan Garbarek lends his talents to a couple of songs, with "December Greenwings" being a particularly memorable one, while the album's standout, "Flower Crystals", includes an unidentified keyboard player. Another excellent release from ECM via Wakefield, boasting a deep, rich low end and a sparkling soundstage. I own a vintage radio station copy from WSGE, the cover's seen better days, but the vinyl is in fantastic condition, completely silent, with no surface noise to speak of.

  • Bass Album Surprises

    4 out of 5 stars
    gevocilwev14 February 2024United States🇺🇸

You might assume a solo bass album would be boring, but this one isn't. It's diverse, with extra layers like Jan Garbarek's saxophone. The audio quality is excellent.
