The hue is pleasant but the vinyl's audio quality is lacking. Side A is alright, but side B is way too squashed. "Vampire Money" is so compressed that it all just turns into one big blur of sound. The mastering seems dull and flat, but it's not unbearable, and the record itself is perfectly even. However, my copy has a mark from the kids yesterday that causes some loud scratching sounds :(
This pressing is alright, the sound quality is way better than I thought it'd be for a picture disc, but there's a few cracks and pops scattered around. The traffic report has a weird skip on my copy, so it just says "Bad news from the zone tumbleweeds that left them all costa rica" and Vampire Money sounds all muffled. I only grabbed this one cause I couldn't find the normal pressing anywhere in my state, and my local shop just got these in cheap. It's a 7/10 overall, but if you got the choice, go with the normal pressing. Also, the stickers on these are all messed up, so finding one in good condition might take a while if you care.
In my view, this is a fantastic pressing. It's incredibly quiet, the flattest vinyl I have, with excellent mixing and mastering. The only hiss in my copy was just before Sing. The instrument separation is superb, with a remarkably wide sound stage. Usually, three synths over a full band would be too much, but in this pressing, everything is layered exceptionally well. The color isn't my preferred choice, but it looks much nicer in person.
While not the best sounding album in my collection, it's certainly not terrible. It does seem more lively than the streamed version, in my opinion. That said, there's still quite a bit of hiss even after giving it a good clean twice.
The audio quality was fantastic for a picture disc until just before the track "Destroya" where some popping noises began, and there was a repeating skip right in the middle of that song. I did have to pack this in my suitcase for a plane trip, so that might have caused the issues.
