To start with: what an amazing concept for this album, all tracks centered around tears, sorrow, and gloom! Yet, Ray Charles' unique touch brings a sense of hope and comfort as you go through it. Interesting how "Let's Go Get Stoned" used to imply intoxication, and now it carries a whole new meaning. Happy we have that one. Most of these songs are covers, but I link them so much with Ray. This is a fantastic album! Not one that's frequently talked about, but it certainly doesn't deserve to be overshadowed.
Gorgeous mastering and vinyl that's incredibly quiet. This release and the initial US mono are my top picks. They outshine any UK pressings in sound quality.
