This seminal album, remastered in 2009, blends krautrock, synthpop, and new wave to create a futuristic soundscape that feels as relevant today as it did over four decades ago. With tracks like the title song "Computerwelt" and "Computer Liebe," Kraftwerk delves into themes of technology, love, and the intersection of humanity with machines. The album's short runtime of 34 minutes is packed with innovative beats and synth melodies that define the electro genre. • Kraftwerk's Impactful Electronic Shift

    5 out of 5 stars
    Hquih0625 December 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

While "Trans Europe Express" and "Die Mensch Maschine" might be Kraftwerk's peak creations, "Computer World" could be their most impactful, at least to today's electronic music enthusiasts. Detroit Techno was just beginning to take shape when this album dropped, but even after a three-year hiatus, Hutter & Schneider revolutionized dance floors once again. Surprisingly, the album was initially met with resistance from many fans, as it marked a shift from the stark and austere style of their previous work, moving towards a warmer, more playful Kraftwerk that contrasted with the definitive imagery of their earlier albums. The heart of Kraftwerk's artistic genius lies in their ability to blend futurism and romanticism, two opposing aesthetics that they masterfully combine. This contrast reaches its peak with "Computer World" - predicting the future with tracks like "Home Computer" and "It's more fun to Compute", while also romanticizing, especially in retrospect, with "Pocket Calculator". They practically defined entire genres with "Numbers" and "Home Computer", but the album's standout track is the gloriously romantic "Computer Love" - a beautifully melancholic and melodic piece that encapsulates Kraftwerk perfectly, revealing a deeply human and soulful band beneath all the electronic databanks and austere exterior.

  • Clear Highs, Better Than US

Bright, clear highs with excellent detail. This one's a step up from the murky, darker US version.

I picked this up on a whim a few years back, not really knowing what I was doing, but it turns out it's absolutely amazing. There's no hiss and the sound is really bold and impactful.

About Kraftwerk

Kraftwerk, the pioneering German synth-pop band, has been shaping the landscape of electronic music since the early 1970s. Blending elements of krautrock, new wave, and electro, their innovative sound has influenced countless artists across various genres. Known for their futuristic aesthetics and robotic stage personas, Kraftwerk's music is characterized by its precise, mechanical rhythms and hypnotic melodies. With seminal albums like "Autobahn" and "The Man-Machine," they've not only defined the sound of electronic music but also explored themes of technology, urban life, and human-machine interaction. Kraftwerk's legacy continues to resonate, making them one of the most important and influential acts in modern music history.
