Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
Hailing from '76, this album showcases Jim Hall accompanied by an ensemble, delivering some ingenious arrangements, a few crafted by Don Sebesky. These tracks exude an orchestral vibe. Jim also gets to shine in unison passages alongside Art Farmer's flugelhorn, which is truly a delight. A couple of tunes feature vocals, including from Jim's wife Jane. The recording and mix are superb, just a tad muffled in the higher frequencies, but that lends it a cozy sound. Jim's guitar tone, both on electric and acoustic, is phenomenal. Great pressing. The liner notes are exceptional, worth your time if you've got around 2 hours to spare. Highly recommended.
