This album is absolutely stunning. It's got such a lovely, romantic vibe. Next time you're with that special someone, give this a listen. They might just fall head over heels for you.
This album's atmosphere is absolutely fantastic. The instrumentation and tracks are quite distinct from many other recent Tone Poet offerings, making it a standout addition to the series. Take, for instance, the somber duet between Fred Katz's cello and Buddy Collette's clarinet on "The Sage"—it's truly remarkable. Then, "The Morning After" serves as a short, lively closer to side A, a tune I'm almost certain Mark Mothersbaugh drew inspiration from for his "Rushmore" soundtrack. I'm thrilled that the folks at Blue Note selected this album for the Tone Poet series: the music is deserving of a wider audience and a meticulous remastering. Bravo! It's definitely worth adding to your collection.
