  • Inconsistent Audio Quality

    4 out of 5 stars
    vetzev725 November 2025United States🇺🇸

The tunes are absolutely amazing, but the audio quality is super inconsistent. I'm not sure if it's just this repressing or if the original is like this too.

  • Stereo Jazz Masterpiece

    5 out of 5 stars
    lureasaxe3 April 2025United States🇺🇸

The label indicates mono, yet this pressing is clearly a stereo record. The music is among the finest recorded jazz ever.

  • Jazz Masterpiece Shines

    5 out of 5 stars
    Sicyoqagp30 March 2024United States🇺🇸

This album is absolutely amazing, with a sound quality that's top-notch. The vinyl is perfectly flat, the background is silent, and every instrument shines, full of life and dynamic range. Booker Little's playing is as smooth as butter, Don Friedman is always underappreciated, and the rest of the band members are on point, if not absolutely outstanding.

  • Jpns Vinyl: Detailed but Separated

    4 out of 5 stars
    Yvosbuqt20 February 2024United States🇺🇸

Yet another excellent Jpns vinyl release; it's incredibly quiet and packed with detail. The one thing that's a bit off for me is the extreme stereo separation: horns blasting from the left, and everything else coming from the right. Might be an issue from the original mix? If it bugs you, trying mono could be a good idea. The performance is fantastic!

About Booker Little

Booker Little was a groundbreaking American jazz trumpeter whose brief but brilliant career left an indelible mark on the genre. Born in 1938, Little's innovative approach to hard bop and free jazz set him apart from his contemporaries. His dynamic playing style, characterized by its technical prowess and emotional depth, made him a standout figure in the jazz scene of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Collaborating with luminaries like John Coltrane and Max Roach, Little's contributions to albums such as "Out Front" and "Victory!" showcased his ability to blend bebop's complexity with the avant-garde spirit of free jazz. Despite his untimely passing in 1961 at the age of 23, Booker Little's legacy endures, inspiring generations of musicians and cementing his status as a visionary in the world of jazz.
