Among my top picks... it's just a brilliant piece and both the kudu and cti editions are absolutly stunning ... grab it! grab them!
Joe Beck is an amazing jazz guitarist. His fusion playing is top-notch, really enjoyable to listen to. This album is a great team-up with some well-known musicians from that era. Sanborn can be a bit much, but he's got solid jazz-funk cred. The recording quality is excellent, engineered by RVG himself, and Joe's guitar tone is nice, though maybe a tad too scooped. Highly recommended.
I guess I mistakenly thought the alternate cover meant it was a different album than the one I already owned. My bad for not verifying. This is classic mid-'70s jazz-rock fusion, featuring some blazing Sanborn alto and delicious guitar work by Beck. It's got that classic CTI vibe with Sebesky's arrangements and strings. 3 stars.
