Wow! This album is hands down the most entertaining release in the last half-decade! It's all about carefree headbanging and utterly crazy metal blended with chibi/kawaii silliness. I'm totally into it. Readers of the UK magazine [Metal Hammer] crowned this as the most significant album of the 21st century. Over the top? Not in my book! I first discovered Babymetal at a sushi joint that had all sorts of promos playing on a screen. It'd be easy to dismiss them as just cute, but this album is a creative triumph! It's not rare for a track to pack in three different styles within just a few minutes. Take ギミチョコ!! for instance, it's got metal, punk pop, and even a gabba-inspired synth. Oh, and it's all about craving chocolate. いいね! boasts a fantastic digital beat that'll take you back to 2002... imagine Scooter, then suddenly it shifts into something reminiscent of early BTS, before dropping back into quasi-Kiss metal. The intro for 紅月-アカツキ- pays homage to Hong Kong rockers Beyond (15) before going full metal, while Catch me of you can is a delightful mix of bubblegum pop, breakbeat, dubstep, and late 90s Fear Factory. 4の歌 kicks off with a classic 70s space guitar riff, then breaks down into adorable reggae, not unlike Shonen Knife. Could 悪夢の輪舞曲 be a fusion of Evanescence and Kate Bush? Alright, let's get down to business. Everything here is thrilling and ヘドバンギャー!! (headbanger, though I initially misheard it as Beethoven) was their debut single. Its baroque intro descends into acid bass and guttural screams. This is definitely my favorite track. Who knew acid bass could fit into neuvogoth?
This is another version of their initial release, which was previously exclusive to fan club members. It features alternate versions of "Akatsuki" and "Song for 4", which are only found in this release. The rest of the tracks are identical to those in their first official, commercial album.
Grabbed a crimson version for 25 bucks on Amazon, super psyched!
I finally received mine, but it arrived with a mark right out of the box 😔 apart from that, it's mastered with impact and has amazing loudness. thrilled to finally have it in my collection!!
If this album isn't your thing, then, i gotta be honest, you're just being cringe
