Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
This album is among the finest sounding I've come across. Every instrument is distinct, and you can pick up on all the nuances.
Pleased to finally own one of my all-time favorite albums on vinyl at a reasonable cost. This is an excellent pressing; it's quiet, has a warm sound, and offers great separation and dynamics. The gatefold design is well-done, though mine sadly arrived with some damage where it looks like both discs poked out the top of the sleeve a tiny bit.
I totally see eye to eye with the 3 other reviews/comments here. This is an absolute gem and a pleasant surprise of a repressing. I had no clue it was repressed until, for the first time ever, I was browsing amazon's warehouse and stumbled upon this. I've been after this for ages and went ahead and bought it on a whim. Then I read these reviews and was thrilled. I gotta say, it's one of the best 'new' pressings I've grabbed. The album as a whole sounds so much fuller compared to the CD I own. This is gonna get a ton of spins over the coming months!
Following Richard Ashcroft's exit from The Verve, we're gifted with "Alone With Everyone." The Verve, known for their exceptional modern psychedelic tunes, set a high bar, and this solo venture matches their richness and depth, particularly echoing the vibe of their final album, "Urban Hymns." Richard has truly made this album his own, showcasing his voice and talents prominently, a stark contrast to his blended sound with the band. It's a challenging feat to pull off a successful solo career post-band life, but Richard nails it, delivering a stellar collection that's both expected and desired. This album is a gem that continually captivates my ears and soul. I've got a hunch, though, that like The Verve, Richard might be overlooked, which would be a real pity. In a few years, people will likely rediscover this brilliant work, but I'm just thrilled to be enjoying it now and for years to come. **Fun Fact:** The album's title is inspired by Charles Bukowski's poem "Alone With Everybody," from his 1977 collection "Love is a Dog from Hell," reflecting the loneliness one might feel amidst a crowd.
Unreserved Capitulation" I spend the evening, yeah, searching for my soul in a hotel room, waiting for you. We're gonna make it happen tonight, yeah, something in the atmosphere tells me the moment is perfect so we better get going. DJ, spin 'A Song For The Lovers', tonight" - Alone With Everybody begins with a bang and a catchy tune, and it's a bittersweet melody all the way through. But I miss that massive swing of The Verve on this solo project, I miss their enormous shoegaze power that used to mesmerize me like the fakir's flute the snake.
