Highly recommended recording from Bud's time in France. The final track, Squatty, a wonderful lively, swinging tune is one of the highlights for sure. This Japanese (silent vinyl) pressing is a really pleasurable listen.
I bought a mint copy as a cheap throw in to an order for a handful of Japanese records. The sound quality is phenomenal (almost on the level of Three Blind Mice); the sound is a full throttle yet controlled attack and the vinyl is dead quiet. The record would be worth the price at $80 but at the current bargain bin prices it is going for; this might be one of the best steals in jazz vinyl.
This pressing is diamond for the ear! Crisp and true analogue sound. Exceptional stage and mastering. This is actually an ode to Cannonball Adderley, who produced this session dedicated to the music of Thelonious Monk. Very powerful work, wonderfully captured full of emotions and amazing palpable three-dimensional sound
