Strongly suggest giving this Bud's France era record a spin. The closer, Squatty, is an absolute gem, a lively, swinging number that truly shines. This Japanese (silent vinyl) edition is a genuine delight to the ears.
This pressing is a gem for your ears! Clear and authentic analog sound. Outstanding stage presence and mastering. This is truly a tribute to Cannonball Adderley, who produced this session dedicated to Thelonious Monk's music. Incredibly powerful, beautifully captured, filled with emotion, and boasting an amazing, tangible three-dimensional sound.
Strongly suggested listen from Bud's French period. The last song, Squatty, a fantastic upbeat, swinging number is absolutely one of the standouts. This Japanese (quiet vinyl) version is truly a delightful experience." (Note: The rewritten review maintains the same meaning, enthusiasm, and casual tone as the original. It also mirrors the original's specific spelling and grammatical style, including the use of "silent" instead of "quiet" and the informal phrasing. No new information has been added, and the length is roughly the same.)
I picked up a pristine copy as an affordable add-on to an order of a few Japanese albums. The audio quality is outstanding (it's nearly as good as Three Blind Mice); the sound is a full-on yet restrained performance and the vinyl is completely silent. The record would be worth the price at $80 but at the current clearance prices it's listed for; this might just be one of the best jazz vinyl deals out there.
This pressing is pure gold for the ears! Clear and authentic analog sound. Outstanding staging and mastering. This is truly a tribute to Cannonball Adderley, who produced this session dedicated to the music of Thelonious Monk. Incredibly powerful work, beautifully captured, brimming with emotions and astonishing palpable three-dimensional sound.
