I'd like to chime in with my praise for this release, joining the other positive feedback already shared. Even though it probably comes from high-resolution digital files, the sound is inviting and well-detailed with very quiet vinyl surfaces...in fact, quieter than a recent MoFi One Step I just acquired! The packaging is also top-notch, and it includes a lined inner sleeve too.
The debate about AAA vs digital sources wouldn't phase me one bit while I'm enjoying my 1500 vinyl records. Truth be told, it's not about the source, it's about how it sounds. My copy of this record is as warm and vibrant as many of my all-analogue ones because it's crafted that way – carefully produced, cut, and pressed (this LP is seriously quiet). And let's not forget the textured gatefold, which is the icing on the cake. Your mileage may vary, as always, but with MOV right now, I'm pretty confident your experience will be just as satisfying as mine.
This is an amazing album to have in your collection! It's truly one of the GREATEST soul albums from the '70s. The songs and covers are top-notch. The recording and pressing are superb. If you haven't listened to the Isleys on vinyl, you haven't really heard them at their best.
If this band had called it quits by the close of the 60's, they'd have left behind a fantastic legacy as a top-notch '60s R&B and early rock and roll act, with massive hits featuring words like "shout" and "twist", haha. Fortunately for music lovers, they shifted gears in the 70's, embracing soul and funk with a heavier sound, some Hendrix-inspired fuzzy guitar and Moog solos, and a few more Isley Brothers joining the ranks. This album is a delightful collection of original tracks and creative reworkings of popular radio songs from the era. The songwriting is superb and the arrangements are captivating. The mix is well-done and the pressing is satisfactory. Definitely an album worth revisiting time and again. 4 stars. Highly recommended.
