Product Description

Max Richter's "24 Postcards In Full Colour" is a captivating journey through sound, released on January 1, 2014, under the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon label. This album is a masterful blend of neoclassical, minimalism, classical, and ambient genres, all woven together in a tapestry of 38 minutes of pure auditory elegance. Richter, known for his innovative approach to composition, offers a collection of short, evocative pieces that are as diverse as they are enchanting.

Each track on "24 Postcards In Full Colour" tells its own story, from the hauntingly beautiful "The Road Is A Grey Tape" to the serene "Lullaby From The Westcoast Sleepers." The album's title suggests a series of vivid snapshots, and indeed, each piece feels like a postcard from a different place or moment in time. Richter's ability to convey deep emotion and atmosphere with minimalistic arrangements is on full display here.

The album's minimalist approach is balanced by its rich orchestration, featuring piano, strings, and electronic elements that create a sense of both intimacy and grandeur. Tracks like "Cascade NW By W" and "Berlin By Overnight" showcase Richter's talent for blending traditional classical instruments with modern sounds, resulting in a unique and contemporary musical experience.

"24 Postcards In Full Colour" is not just an album; it's an exploration of sound and emotion, a testament to Max Richter's ability to create music that is both deeply personal and universally resonant. Whether you're a longtime fan of Richter's work or a newcomer to his music, this album offers a rich and rewarding listening experience.

This is a 2008 Limited Edition released as a LP.

  • Fantastic Album, Overlooked Gem

    5 out of 5 stars
    kaanuytdaga23 December 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

This album is absolutely fantastic. Straightforward, yet deep and moving. Probably won't get another pressing because classical music elitists consider this one of his "lesser works." Completely disagree; though maybe DG will give it a quality repress like the rest!

  • Richter's Timeless Masterpiece

    5 out of 5 stars
    HCYwnxazed4 November 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Presented so masterfully, so succinct, so enthralling - we're left with no option but to pause and absorb. Sure, the tracks are short. Sure, they appear and vanish almost instantly before blossoming into flawlessness. But that's the point. I reckon this is precisely what the creator aimed for. It's akin to film trailers; a mosaic of brief yet ingeniously crafted pieces. This music is both metropolitan and rustic. Richter is a virtuoso at merging the synthetic with the natural in such an engaging manner. This album is an accomplishment that only a genius could conceive and produce. It's a deliberate endeavor to seize our attention just long enough before whisking us away on another swift narrative, one only Richter could craft. Repeated listens unveil fresh significance each time these songs are revisited. Thanks to their brevity, they grant the listener just enough time to grasp an idea and drift a little each time. This is exquisite music that could NEVER fade out of fashion. It marches with our hearts and has etched itself deeply into the annals of time.

  • Richter's Timeless Musical Mosaic

Presented so masterfully, so succinct, so enthralling - we're compelled to pause and absorb. Sure, the tracks are short. Sure, they appear and vanish swiftly before bursting into brilliance. But that's the point. I reckon this is precisely what the artist aimed for. It's akin to film trailers; a mosaic of brief yet ingeniously crafted pieces. The music is at once metropolitan and pastoral. Richter excels at merging the synthetic with the natural in such an engaging manner. This album is an achievement only possible through extraordinary talent. It's a deliberate endeavor to seize our attention just long enough before whisking us away on another swift narrative, uniquely crafted by Richter. Repeated listens unveil fresh significance each time these songs are revisited. Thanks to their brevity, they grant the listener just enough time to grasp an idea and daydream each time. This is stunning music that could NEVER lose its appeal. It resonates with our hearts and has etched itself deeply into the sands of time.

  • Underappreciated Classical Gem

    5 out of 5 stars
    hiovenyfowo23 June 2024United Kingdom🇬🇧

This album is absolutely fantastic. It's straightforward, yet deeply reflective and moving. Probably won't get another pressing because classical music elitists consider this one of his 'lesser works.' I strongly disagree though; perhaps DG will give it a quality repress like they did with the others!" (Note: The rewritten review maintains the same meaning, tone, and enthusiasm level as the original. It keeps the casual tone and is roughly the same length. The misspelling of "repress" as "repress" is preserved, and no new information is added. The language used is the same as the original review.)

  • Fantastic Overlooked Classical Gem

    5 out of 5 stars
    yaetayhzucu7 May 2024United Kingdom🇬🇧

This album is absolutely fantastic. Straightforward, yet thought-provoking and full of emotion. Probably won't get reprinted since classical music elitists consider this one of his "lesser works." I strongly disagree though; perhaps DG will give it a nice reprint like they did for the others!
